Pipe Ramming

What is pipe ramming?

Pipe ramming diagram.jpg

Pipe ramming is a technique that uses similar technology to pipe bursting by using the pneumatic hammer to drive or "ram" steel sleeves into the surround ground. Once the sleeve is installed, it is cleaned and then becomes ready for host pipe.

This method allows for trenchless installation of sleeves under roads, railways or other sensitive areas with the added protection of the sleeve for the utility service. This method can also utilise an existing alignment by ramming the sleeve over the existing pipe to allow trenchless removal of old pipe and installation of new pipe on the existing alignment.

Range of works

Harris Civil are capable of installing sleeves ranging anywhere from 300 to 900mm.
